Temnodontosaurus

Meaning “Cutting Tooth Lizard”, temnodontosaurus was an ichthyosaur that prowled the open oceans of Europe during the Early Jurassic. Reaching a length of 10 meters (33 feet) it was the apex predator of the open ocean. Its massive eyes were surrounded by sclerotic rings, allowing it not only to see in the dark depths, but survive it as well. It’s teeth were serrated and tough, designed for ripping apart any animal it catches while also allowing it to pierce even the toughest shells. Stomach contents found in some fossils includes cephalopods and even juvenile ichthyosaurs.
