First time using Photoshop

Created September 17, 2021

Choosing what to use for this assignment was pretty easy. I decided to use pictures of sharks which are one of my favorite animals next to dinosaurs. I wanted to find 3 images with similar backgrounds to make it look like one image. In order to give it a more scary look, I went with a red orange filter. Unfortunately, I am still trying to get around the ropes with photoshop and still have much to learn.

Netflix Poster

Created October 1, 2021

I really wanted to go with a space theme for this netflix poster. That's because I was given stuff that gave me major space vibes like an astronaut, a full moon, the planet earth and a space background. I wanted to make it look like the astronaut was surfing on the Netflix logo like the silver surfer. The reason he's doing this is because he's using it to explore space much like how we explore Netflix to find something we want to watch.

Godzilla Layer Masking

Made October 8, 2021

The inspiration for my layer mask stems from one of my favorite movies. That movie is the Godzilla franchise. My inspiration came from movie posters and the idea from the recent movies where Godzilla is an ancient monster who is older than the dinosaurs. So for for my layer mask idea, I looked at space backgrounds to give the idea of time. I would have the stars in space show up in Godzilla's shadows which also sort of looked like a rain effect. First I selected a black and white image of the monster king himself and using the magic wand tool got rid of the black background as well as the black parts of his shadow. After that, I placed my outer space image as my background before creating a layer mask to add in some finishing touches.

Aquarium edits

Made October 14, 2021

The first thing I did was choose images from my phone. I decided to keep it simple by choosing two pictures I took at Mystic Aquarium back in 2020. What I wanted to do was retouch the images so that they didn't look like they were taken behind glass. In order to do so, I had to use the spot healing tool to get rid of any object that was reflected on the glass tank. After that, I then did some color saturation to give the pictures more of an underwater feel to them.

Hero Poster

Made October 20, 2021

In 1961, Stan Lee created one of the most iconic superhero teams of all time. The Fantastic Four. The comic was a huge success and prompted Stan to make more characters with his second creation being The Incredible Hulk in 1962 and his third being The Amazing Spider-Man. And it didn't just stop there. Stan created several other legendary characters including The Invincible Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ant Man and many many more. Because Stan Lee was such a legendary comic book creator, I wanted to make the poster be in the style of a comic book cover. On top of that, I decided to put some of his characters that he created with him. With so much to choose from, it was hard to pick the best ones. I had to go with Spider-Man since he's Stan's most iconic creation. Eventually, I decided to go with heroes he created that were part of The Avengers. I also found it appropriate that Stan would be saying his catchphrase Excelsior.

Elephant

Made October 5, 2021

First thing was first. I colored the elephant. At first I wanted to make a pink elephant from the movie Dumbo before later changing my mind. Instead I went with a traditional grey elephant with the background being similar to a sunset on the plains of Africa. In order to accomplish this, I made a square that took up the whole background and filpped it to make the brighter side appear on the bottom. After that, I added some flowers to add some aesthetics.

Pencil

Made November 1, 2021

I just wanted to make a nice simple pencil. I started by making a rectangle that was 36 pixels wide and 360 pixels tall. In order to make my life a lot easier, I decided to center the rectangle before placing a rectangle of the same height but this one was 18 pixels wide. Long story short, I made shapes of different sizes to make the pencil. After coloring it in, I used the mesh tool to add some shade and dimension to the pencil. And for the cherry on top, I added a blotch on the bottom as if it were a drawing made by the pencil

BOXES

Made November 10, 2021

When I started, I originally wanted to try and use the squares to form a picture. I later changed it because it was too complex. So I decided to instead make it look like the boxes had magical writings on them. I started out with 49 white boxes before filling them in with different shades of orange. I wanted the boxes to get darker as they got closer to the middle. Then I started making shapes and sometimes lines inside of the boxes. The colors of these shapes were meant to be the opposite of the color of the box that they were in. For example, if the box was dark orange, the shape inside would be light orange

Image Trace

Made November 1, 2021

It was the picture I took on Halloween night 2021 and I wanted to try and make it look spooky. Let's face it, as genius as my idea was to wear a motion capture suit for my Halloween costume, it’s not scary. So with the picture, I decided to try and spice it up a little bit. First I changed the hue and saturation to be more of a red color. Then using the image trace, I made it into 16 colors as well as adding some red outlines. Finally I give myself red glowing eyes. Just like in real life.

Infographic

Made November 23, 2021

For my infographic, I chose to go with the thing that was closest to my heart when I was a kid. That was saving sharks. I wanted an infographic that was simple but also stood out at the same time, which was why I took the liberty of drawing the objects myself instead of taking photos from the internet. In order to present facts, I used my knowledge of sharks that I had since I was 5. I also used my good friend google to help me out. I chose ariel black for my font because I wanted my font to grab the attention of those who are walking by it. Because a human skull represents death, I decided to use a shark skull to represent the death of sharks. And I was really proud of the skull's end result. I also considered comparing how many people were killed by sharks to the amount of people killed by other marine animals before comparing those numbers to the amount of sharks killed each year.
